Unlike The Mountains of Hai Hung Vang, the young female artist Thanh Huong Doan’s perspective on the highland winter elicits a cosier feeling. The Transition of Seasons depicts an ethnic elderly man walking calmly in the sunshine on a snowy day, signalling the change of seasons. The warm tones and vibrant peach blossoms create a joyful atmosphere reminiscent of the Lunar New Year. The painting was inspired by the photograph Peach Blossoms in Pho Cao taken by Mr. Quoc Hoan Bui in 2018. Thanh Huong revealed: “The emotions instantly overwhelmed me as I saw the photo. The soft, sweet sunlight reminds us that in the cold, there are always sparkling rays of light.”
