Right at the reception, visitors are greeted with an energetic square painting titled Spring. The uplifting palette of chartreuse, blue, yellow, pink combined with random strokes constantly radiate a youthful and exhilarating atmosphere, evoking nature’s abundant proliferation. The blue shapes and black lines are the accents of rhythmic improvisations, not dissimilar to a jazz piece full of high and low notes. Speaking of the visual aspect, Spring is a new transformation in Vu Thang’s artistic career, from primitive expressionism to abstract expressionism. Spring was created at Cau May street in Sapa, where the artist often resides and operates his own gallery named May Gallery. The fresh spirit of this purely abstract painting will give visitors a different way to contemplate the familiar tourist destination of Sapa.
